Cafe Nexus Network

Libby

What do you think of the new website?

Hello there

After several months in the planning the Cafe Nexus website is now online. It would be really useful if people could leave some feedback, maybe let me know things you'd like to see on here that aren't, point out glitches or just say something nice to make me feel good about all the work I've done!!

Anyway enjoy and if you have any questions please do get in touch!

Libby :)

Hi Libby. Having had a look at the café nexus website (http://cafenexus.org.uk) I think it looks really good. The only thing that occurs to me is there is an obvious overlap between the cafe related discussion forums there and the ability to create discussion forums here so members of both will need to think through what the additional benefits are of using this system as well. For starters, this environment gives everyone a home page and personal blog if they want it. Also it is possible to share resources here; pictures, videos, documents, web links etc. The other thing that might prove useful is that sub-communities (groups) can be created that have their own home page, blogs, discussion forums, resource sharing and so on. It will be interesting to see how this develops. I think it has the potential to be a really interesting and useful community.

Dear Libby
Firstly and most importantly what you have done is great both the the café nexus website (http://cafenexus.org.uk) and this Social Networking forum! It is much more than I expected and I have already started to think how I can use your ideas in other contexts.

It is realively easy to use and apart from getting a bit confused about the link between the website and this social forum have not had to think too carefully about what I am doing so it is pretty easy for a 'newbie' to start using.

I suppose what I am particularly interested in is how we combine opportunities; for learning, discussion and debate at the physical meetings of the various cafes; and, both the electronic website and social network. For some of the cafes I will already be familiar with the subject matter but for others I am a complete novice and so it may be an idea to have some sort of 'beginners guide' to the subject of a cafe so that beginners, intermediates, and expert can all discuss the issues without the beginners feeling intimidated. If we can crack that one then that would be amazing.

I could spend a lot more time listing all the great work you have done and possible ideas for the future but 'work' calls.

All the best
Clive

Hi Lib,

It's looking really good and it's nice to see how quickly people are joining up to the network. As others before me have commented, this site is sure to prove itself to be a very useful resource both as a lead-in to forthcoming cafes and a place for follow-up discussions and feedback.

I know that I, for one, very rarely get home from a cafe without a few burning questions having popped up in my head en route after the discussion - good to know that there'll be somewhere to articulate these and generate further discussion after the event.

Good stuff!

Rachel
